Yesterday the Kerry Petrick-trained Shout Out Loud turned the tables on his rival Hawks Bay, claiming a close win in the $160,000 Carlton Mid Darwin Cup (2000m).
After pulling out a smart late burst, Shout Out Loud ($9) overtook warm favourite Hawks Bay ($4) in the final stride to secure victory by a short-head.
Club Liquid ($7), who won the Darwin Cup in 2008, did well to finish third after suffering from persistent foot problems.
Nearly 20,000 punters gathered at the Fannie Bay Turf Club to enjoy the Northern Territory’s premier race and see the end of the Darwin Cup Carnival.
