Post D’France Capable of Competitive 2015 Darwin Cup

August 3rd, 2015

Trainer Stephen Brown has been thrilled with the form and class displayed by classy runner Post D’France in recent weeks and is confident he is ready to lay a great account for himself in this afternoon’s 2015 Darwin Cup (2000m).

Post D’France has steadily built to the task through three starts this time; clearly needing the run when ninth in the Roant Gold Cup (1300m) on June 27th but responding well for fifth in the Minister’s Cup (1600m) and fourth in the Buntine Handicap (1900m) most recently.

Having clearly responded well to the continued step-up in racing distance, Brown has been thrilled with the progression made by the classy seven-year-old and is confident he is in the right form for success in the Darwin Cup 2015.

“I’m really happy with him – I can’t get him any better,” Brown told Racing Victoria.

“I think the race will be run a bit differently to what all the lead-up races have been.

“He’s on target and he should be peaking on Monday.”

Brown has understandably identified race favourite Lightinthenite as Post D’France’s biggest threat in the 2015 Darwin Cup but remains hopeful his runner will get a good trail from the Gary Clarke-trained gelding into the race.

“Liteinthenite for sure (is the hardest to beat); he’s drawn inside us so that first corner is probably the biggest problem,” he said.

“Hopefully we can follow him across and tuck in behind him.”

Securing eight wins and a further four minors through 36 competitive starts so far, Post D’France was a typically strong and consistent performer racing out of Brown’s Flemington stables through the recent Autumn Carnival; Winning the Hong Kong Jockey Club BM90 (1800m) and finishing second in the Advantage Mailing Solutions BM90 (2040m) before placing a credible sixth in the Group 3 Easter Cup (2000m).
